ALKEN - Cloud Opera

Presentation

ALKEN - Cloud Opera is an upcoming tabletop role-playing game in which you play out the battles of bands of mercenaries striving not to discover the Elixir of Long Life, but become it, through the process called Excarnation.

ALKEN takes place in the skies of Galakyon, an archipelago of islands, floating in the sky. In this setting, the characters you play will fight throughout the rooftops of distant cities, the ruins of forgotten cities, and in the midst of storms, the physical manifestations of the wars waged by the Gods in the Stars.

Player Characters

Characters in ALKEN are described through:

• Their affinity towards the STARs, the five aspects of the flow of reality.
• Their Origins: tribe, country, and allegiance.
• Their Path, the narrative archetype they incarnate.
• Their Artefacts, the tools they produce and use for battle.
• The Arcana they will develop in the game, through Excarnation.
• Their Troupe, the group of character you will play around the table.

Game Informations

This game is played using d6s, and is meant to generate campaigns of around seven arcs of ten hours each. The game book is around 250 pages.

Early Access

The game is in a playable state. The choice of Early Access for the release of this game is dual: On one hand, the book contains currently no illustrations. Money from the early access will serve to pay illustrators and paint this fictional reality. On the other hand, the game certainly needs one or two updates and patches to rectify balance problems and text errors.

I am now working on a Quick Start, which will also serve to playtest the game. Once feedback from the Quick Start has led to an update of the Core Book, it will be released.
